{"id":4374,"date":"2026-10-08T00:01:00","date_gmt":"2026-10-07T22:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gac.udc.es\/?p=4374"},"modified":"2026-10-08T18:11:18","modified_gmt":"2026-10-08T16:11:18","slug":"08-10-2026-juan-tourino-designado-por-acm-miembro-del-comite-de-los-acm-ieee-cs-george-michael-memorial-hpc-fellowships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gac.udc.es\/index.php\/2026\/10\/08\/08-10-2026-juan-tourino-designado-por-acm-miembro-del-comite-de-los-acm-ieee-cs-george-michael-memorial-hpc-fellowships\/","title":{"rendered":"08\/10\/2026 &#8211; Juan Touri\u00f1o, designado por ACM miembro del Comit\u00e9 de los ACM-IEEE CS George Michael Memorial HPC Fellowships"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>El profesor <strong>Juan Touri\u00f1o,<\/strong> coordinador del GAC, ha sido designado por la <strong>Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)<\/strong> como miembro del Comit\u00e9 de los <a href=\"https:\/\/www.computer.org\/volunteering\/awards\/michael\">ACM-IEEE CS George Michael Memorial HPC Fellowships<\/a> para el periodo <strong>2026-2029.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Leer m\u00e1s<\/summary>\n<p>Los George Michael Memorial HPC Fellowships constituyen uno de los principales reconocimientos internacionales para estudiantes de doctorado en el \u00e1mbito de la <strong>computaci\u00f3n de altas prestaciones (High Performance Computing, HPC)<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong> Los premios, auspiciados conjuntamente por <strong>ACM y la IEEE Computer Society<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> reconocen anualmente a estudiantes de doctorado de todo el mundo por su excelencia investigadora en \u00e1reas como HPC, redes, almacenamiento y an\u00e1lisis de datos a gran escala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El comit\u00e9 de selecci\u00f3n est\u00e1 integrado por <strong>ocho investigadores de reconocido prestigio internacional<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> cuatro representantes de ACM y cuatro de IEEE Computer Society. En su composici\u00f3n de 2026 figuran investigadores de instituciones como <strong>Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Politecnico di Milano, New Jersey Institute of Technology<\/strong> y la<strong> Universidade da Coru\u00f1a,<\/strong> representada por el profesor Touri\u00f1o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La relevancia de este comit\u00e9 queda reflejada en la trayectoria de algunos de sus anteriores integrantes. Entre ellos se encuentra <strong>Jack Dongarra<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> profesor de la University of Tennessee, que presidi\u00f3 el comit\u00e9 en 2020 y fue galardonado con el <strong>ACM A.M. Turing Award 2021<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> considerado el \u00abNobel de la Inform\u00e1tica\u00bb, por sus contribuciones pioneras a los algoritmos y bibliotecas num\u00e9ricas que impulsaron la evoluci\u00f3n del software de computaci\u00f3n de altas prestaciones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La designaci\u00f3n de Juan Touri\u00f1o supone adem\u00e1s su incorporaci\u00f3n como <strong>uno de los dos representantes europeos<\/strong> en el comit\u00e9 actual. ACM, fundada en 1947, es la mayor sociedad cient\u00edfica y educativa internacional dedicada a la inform\u00e1tica, con m\u00e1s de <strong>100.000 miembros<\/strong> en todo el mundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los galardonados reciben el reconocimiento durante la ceremonia de premios de la conferencia <strong>SC (International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis)<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> el principal encuentro internacional de la comunidad HPC.
